Quintaphobia

The fear of the number 5

I thought Q had me stuck but thanks to the madness of the human brain I will not have to let you down.  It seems that some people out there are afraid of the number five.  I just really think it is a testament to just how bizarre, and entertaining human behavior really is that there is people afraid of numbers and not just numbers, specific numbers.  There was even another Q phobia for the number 4.
I think it really just is wild that the number 5, the fifth number that I ever learned, can be scary to someone.  Like just the thought that you could play them like a jack in the box just by simply counting to five.  Then Having to deal with knowing that you could never do it because it would be mean.  So then you just hope you will see a kid do it so that you can live the moment through their eyes.  Who are also loving being rude and blunt too.  Don't let kids fool you because they look all sweet and cute.  Kids know what they are doing when they are mean.  Kids can be vicious.  I was a kid and I know it's true.  So if you tried hard enough I'm sure you'd probably get to see a kid jack in the box a quintaphobe sometime.

  1. Five isn't nearly as cool as nine, but it's still more useful than six. But being afraid of it? Hmm, I'm not even afraid of thirteen. Three maybe - right after bad thing number two happens.

  2. It's quite strange and sad that people have such odd phobias. I've never been afraid of any specific number and I'm afraid of a lot of things: heights, high speeds, loud noises, guns, dogs, bees, the big bad wolf, Virginia Woolf... you get the idea. :D

That said, I'm glad you were able to find a good 'Q' topic.

    1. Thanks. I was surprised by how many interesting or funny ones there actually were.

  3. Fear of the number five would make it pretty difficult to deal with telling time or even looking at your hands, wouldn't it?

  4. Five isn't all that scary... unless it's the number of ex-spouses you have, or the number of kids, or the number of times you have to tell those kids to go to bed.

Huh... you're right, five is scary as hell!! :)

  5. I wonder if people with that fear cut off the little finger of their left hand (the one considered "5" when counting by finger)?
People fearing Four... do they cower at the sight of a Veronica Roth novel?

  6. Interesting. I hadn't heard this one before. I know some people hate certain numbers, which even that seems strange to me as it's just a number. But very true, it's interesting how the human mind can work.

  8. I love number 5 - the number and the robot, lol! I agree about 3 being freaky, bad things come in 3's but it's not bad enough to be a phobia! Great blog, I'm going to follow by e-mail....thanks for checking my blog out ;)
