Dishabiliophobia

For this years A-Z challenge I have chosen to explore obscure fears from A-Z.  All of the fears I have chosen to discuss were the ones for each letter that I found the most fascinating, or interesting that would be fun to mess around with Laughing at Life 2 style
Dishabiliophobia is the fear of undressing in front of someone.  I actually think I may have this one but, don't we all?  Isn't step one of foreplay turning off the lights and getting under the covers?  I know it is at my house.  As a matter of fact I think my dishabiliophobia is why I failed gym class.  As politically correct as our society has become I cannot believe our schools can get away with discriminating against dishabiliophobes by still making the students dress out for dodge ball lord of the flies style.
I bet you though that dishabiliophobia is just a plus size problem.  I bet sexy, fit people cannot wait to get naked no matter how many people are watching.  I don't think you spend that much time dieting and working out to hide all that work.  Unless, maybe, your a buff sexy young guy that suffers from a small willy.  Yep, I bet dishabiliophobia is a fear only chubby folks deal with.

  1. I'm not especially fit, I look like a marathoner in a POW camp, but I positively hate clothes. You know how every group of guys has that one friend that never seems to wear a shirt? I am that guy.

  2. Clothes are our shield. Removing them in public makes us feel vulnerable and takes more courage that what most of us have no matter the state/condition of what lies beneath

    1. I suppose that may be true but my old neighbor was ripped like a Calvin Klein model and I'm not sure he owned a shirt.

  3. There might be some ties to body image (whether the problems of their body are real or perceived) to not wanting to get undressed. Fear would have a rather deep root in the psyche I would imagine, for it to reach that level of unwanting. Though can guarantee my much slimmer stepsisters had no problem with this. Maybe could have used a little cause I didn't care to be mooned at any given time.
