This year for the A to Z Challenge I have decided to get a little personal with my loyal readers. During this years A to Z I am going to explore 26 of my many pet peeves. I hate almost everything so filling the alphabet will be a breeze. Today the letter is L so lets do Laws.
In particular I do not like laws that seem to only be about about making money and driving revenue for the city or state etc, and also laws that hinder our fun. Mostly laws that hinder our fun though. I especially hate those laws.
I'll begin with Marijuana prohibition. Weed should be legal if for no other reason than that it is widely beneficial for many medical conditions, self-sufficient, and completely renewable. It also greatly boosts the economy among many many other benefits. It's also just really, really very great and I love it. I should get to grow my own garden and it's stupid that I can't. It does look like I might get to in my lifetime though and if so, stay out! Grow your own damn gardens.
As I mentioned above the other kind of laws I hate are the ones that mostly drive fines. I don't mind these when they are enforced to serve and protect or to keep things safe. I mind it when they are clearly just being abused for profit. Nitpicking tiny things and using shady techniques to drive quotas that they deny they have but totally have. Those laws, while lucrative and easy, actually do more harm than they do good. The reason being that since they are so easy cops up mostly targeting mostly law abiding citizens and cause animosity.
So, in the end, I guess you mostly need laws but some of them do kind of suck.
